About Mark Savage
Welcome to my hobby!
Mark Savage is a pen name, one I chose because it is almost impossible to mispronounce and is much easier to remember than my real name. Also, it’s fun to have a secret identity.
The name Mark Savage is a nod to the pulp magazine hero of the Thirties and Forties, Doc Savage. In my youth, I read most of the 181 Doc Savage stories that Bantam Books republished in the Seventies and Eighties. I loved that they took place in an earlier, less complicated time. I also enjoyed the adventures of The Avenger, The Phantom, and The Shadow, all pulp fiction heroes of a bygone age. As time went on, my reading interests shifted to science fiction by the greats like Isaac Asimov, Arthur C Clarke and Robert A Heinlein. I may also have read a comic book or two along the way.
Writing a novel was something I did just to see if I could, and I’m happy to say that not only did I thoroughly enjoy the process, but it turned out better than I had expected. I’m quite proud of it.
Obviously, the incongruency between my 5-star reviews and my sales ranking is proof that only my friends have reviewed my first book. Should you decide to read it, I would appreciate a less biased review.
